In our relationship, my wife says to me she trusts me with the finances. I find that nice, but would like to involve her more in the decision making and that she knows what’s going on with it. I try and introduce certain aspects of it to her but sometimes it leads to her being aggressive. When I do this course, it seems rather idealistic and not not as it is in reality. I pray there will be more unity in my marriage in this.

Two persons coming into marriage come from two different backgrounds, especially the family of origin. They are not clones of each other, so they are bound to have different ideas and values when faced with a joint decision, such as a financial decision. I agree that it is the ability of the husband to love the wife and the ability of the wife to respect the husband, which are synergistic by the way, that will pave the way for a harmonious win-win resolution.
In our marriage, we generally consider the other party more – such as, we are more liberal to spend money on the other party and more thrifty with ourselves. We also learned not to blame each other for decisions, especially when it involves a judgment call amidst many uncertainties. There was a season when we were under a tyrannical boss, and when another opportunity came, we switched camp. I felt strongly about it whereas she felt neutral about it. The decision brought difficult repercussions, but we never blamed each for the decision because we made it together. We felt like a team on one side, struggling how to deal with the tyrant on the other side, but we never let the issue divide us and put us on opposite sides.
