Memory Verse

“Let everyone be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.”

James 1:19–20

Questions to Answer

Instructions

  1. Get and use a hard copy journal or an electronic note-taking tool such as Notion, OneNote, or Apple Notes.
  2. Write down your answers, thoughts, and other revelatory ideas in your journal that God reveals during a time of prayerful reflection.

Read 1 Corinthians 13:5. “[Love] . . . keeps no records of wrongs.”

Respond
  • What does this verse say to you about dealing with past wrongs? Do you bring up past incidences and use them against your mate? If so, has this been productive in solving conflict? What will you do in the future?

Read Ephesians 4:32. “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

Respond
  • What does this verse say to you about forgiveness? Do you consistently and kindly forgive your spouse? (Rate yourself on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the most forgiving). If you need to improve, what do you plan to do?
  • Do you usually ask forgiveness from your spouse when you are in the wrong? If not, what will you do to begin?
  • What is the biggest area of conflict you and your mate are dealing with at this time? What do you both need to do to solve it in such a way that your relationship will flourish?
