I believe that all three reasons for studying the Bible hold the same weight to me. The Bible should be studied as a way to get to know God better and show Him that you truly love Him. As you get to know Him more intimately you will grow up and mature in God. Out of this maturity will spring a natural desire to serve God more and more. So no one reason outweighs the others. The Bible is our guidebook. It is Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. The Bible is the primary way that God speaks to His children. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John1:1)”. Therefore Bible study is absolutely essential to a follower of Christ.

I would prioritize knowing and loving God first, growing up in God second and serving God third. The basis for how I prioritized them is because I believe I have to know and love God before I can grow in Him and I must know and love God to ensure the service I offer is what He desires. I think it knowing Him is most important for me. The only other reason I have would be so that I live my life in a way that reflects the heart of Christ.

All three reasons are important. First you would want to get to know God, because you have to know if this is the right path for you, secondly determine if you are ready to serve Him based on His plans and thirdly, committing yourself to the ministry. All is connected in a way to make you a better person in Christ.

Before I can love God I have to know God! So if I grow up in God and do what is taught via Sunday school, Bible study or church service then I’ll love Him more and serve Him more. So growing up is important, then knowing and serving next.

    1. Know and Love God 2. Grow up in God 3. Serve God. They are prioritized this way because the “Know and Love God is essential for me to continue to grow and then better serve.
