This was a frontal system that typically arrived in Winter. The ship was not able to stay on course.

Luke was referring to a Nor’Easter which occurs when a cold air mass swirls over a warm body of water. It was a violent spring time wind. The wind would have driven the boat into shallow waters of the Syrtis Sands.

The wind created a situation that was completely beyond their control. They were at the mercy of the wind and the waves and could only respond to this circumstance but could not interact with it. As they grew weary of being battered about, they lost all hope.

I believe this passage of scripture is discussing the frontal winds which can cause high winds which can be dangerous.

This would have been a squall, and a very high wind, hurricane force. The ship was wrecked.

Summer is warm and can be humid but we also can expect regular rains in the season. We don’t have long extended periods of high pressure with clear sunny skies for weeks on end. Winter is much colder and snowfall is expected every few days and stays on the ground for months. High and low temperatures fluctuate within seasons unlike the Promised Land which seems to have steady temps within each season.

In my area the Winter months provide a snow cover which melts in the spring, providing early season moisture to the soil.

Our summer season has regular warm rainfalls and only rarely do we encounter a drought that lasts longer than 6-8 weeks.

In Florida summer is the rainy season and is much drier than the winter months. However, in recent years weather patterns have begun to change and summers can be long and not have a whole lot of rain until further into the months when tropical storm systems are more prevalent. With winters being colder (at least by Floridians standards) rains seldom come.

The summer where I last four months. The temperature can get very warm and the humidity can also be high which can bring storm rain storms. The winter can either be cold or mainly mild. Snow fall can range from 5-18 inches. The temperature can get below zero for several days.

Most likely Job is referring to the Khamsin wind which is full of hot air and causes those that experience it to be irritable – like words spoken by someone without wisdom.

Job is referring to the frontal winds, and is indicating that the talk from that person is violent and intense.

Okay so going to guess on this one. In Job 15:2, the reference to a ‘windbag’ usually means someone who is full of hot air so it would be likened to the Khamsin winds which blow hot air in from the desert/wilderness area.

This refers to the Khamsin wind that flows from the east and sends hot air with dust. It’s flowing off the desert. It’s a transitional wind usually from summer to winter and winter to summer.

It is the khasim wind which can make things very uncomfortable (flying sand, strong wind, rapidly rising temperatures). It would only increase tension in conversations.

Rainfall in the winter allows the crops to grow. Winter rains allows for summer crops.

Rain before, during and after the planting of grain crops. No rain, no crops. Barley harvest first, wheat harvest around Pentecost.

Winter is the time rainfall begins. This is the time water collection begins and the beginning of the grain agricultural cycle.

Rainfall is in the winter months and in the summer dewfall waters the crops.

The grain cycle is controlled by the rainfall cycle much like it is in modern farming.
