when I first came to the faith, with all my enthusiasm I tried to share the word with a non believer friend. He appreciated my eagerness but commented that I seemed to lack knowledge of what I was sharing. How right he is, and that was a good sobering reminder to be truly grounded in the Word of God, and in His Work, so that we can point people He will place in our lives with both head knowledge and heart knowledge(as we experience His grace in our lives) and with a conviction that can only come because we not just know the truth, but know God.

I am a teacher at a Christian school. While at least one parent of our students must profess faith in Christ, we sometimes have students, especially middle or high school, who question what it means to be a Christian. There have been several times in which I have the opportunity to share my faith and answer “deep” spiritual questions that students will ask.

Typically I’m asked to explain why a good God would allow bad things. I am also told God is every where and He loves us all so there’s no he’ll or heaven. I find myself defending the truth of the faith.

I cannot recall, but I have been given many examples in front of me, where my sister was defending the need of salvation to my uncle. He was very combative, as he has studied history and it was interesting that he made logical arguments against everything she said. I know I would’ve struggled to defend my faith with him.

In context of the current US culture, I think we are called to defend that GOD is truly a loving GOD that was willing and I willing to sacrifice for the outcast and week. Not just the wealthy and righteous. I feel the need to defend Christ from the churches reputation.
