The lecturer states she “would contend that only a believer is able to truly love wisdom as God created us to love.” Do you agree or disagree? Explain.

I completely agree with this. It is very important to love wisdom especially as a Christian because it does give us understanding of what God likes us to do and what to not do and it does guide us through the Spiritual life.

I completely agree. At the very beginning, we see that mankind strove to pursue and follow what was “wise in their own eyes” and rejected the wisdom of God. However, as Paul says. “Claiming to be wise, they became fools” (Romans 1:22). Wisdom is not found through our own personal efforts or our own understanding, but through a God and a right relationship with Him. If God is love (1 John 4:8), then in order to rightly relate with God, we must rightly love God. Therefore, to truly grasp wisdom in a right relationship with its source, God, we must first rightly love.

I agree. God made us and gave us the ability to follow him and to pursue him. He gave us the ability to praise him and be thankful for him. God had many fears, as we do and this is the beginning of wisdom.

I agree because Scripture states that wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord. This means that knowing and revering Him is the foundation of true wisdom. From there, the Holy Spirit works within us, illuminating our minds to receive and discern truth. Through Him, we can understand our experiences, the world around us, and everything we are taught.

What do you hope to gain from this course? In what specific areas do you hope to grow as a Christian educator?

I hope to gain greater knowledge on biblical principles.

Ultimately I am taking this course in order to meet my licensing requirements. However, I am attempting to enter into this course humbly and with an open heart. Seeking to learn and not just check off a box. I hope that God can reveal to me areas for growth and encourage me in areas that I am succeeding in. My prayer is that this will be a fruitful experience that helps me become an even better educator in order to equip, bless, and teach the students in my care.

I’m looking forward to gaining all the knowledge that will lead me to become the best Christian educator that I can, and know ways to teach and guide each one of my students. As I don’t know everything I hope to grow in each area of being a Christian educator.

By the end of this course, I would love to have a defined philosophy of education, well written out, inscribed in my head, and applied directly and indirectly every time I’m planning my lessons and every single time I’m teaching.

Why is it imperative that Christian educators have a Christian philosophy of education?

Helps us with not just being an educator it also builds our biblical principles.

If Christian educators are not intentionally seeking to base their education on a Christian philosophy (love of wisdom), then that philosophy will naturally come from somewhere else. We all have a philosophy, guiding principles, and foundational truths that shape and form all that we do. As Christians, we ought to do our very best to ensure that our philosophy is rooted and based on God, through Scripture, empowered by the Holy Spirit, in order to form us into the image of Christ. If we aren’t intentionally seeking this out, then the world will seek it out for us.

It is important because it helps Christian educators understand their faith and how they should apply it to their teaching.

So that they will be able to pass down knowledge values and truths to the next generation. Christian education only exist if it is based on only a Christian philosophy of education. For education to truly be considered “Christian,” it must be grounded in a Christian philosophy of education. A Christian philosophy of education is built on the belief that all aspects of learning and teaching should align with biblical principles and a worldview that acknowledges God as the ultimate source of truth, purpose, and wisdom.

Teaching in an international school with students from different faiths, I desire to have a nurturing framework that guides my teaching ministry. I am firstly a Christian before being recognized as a kindergarten teacher, and I believe that having my philosophy of education helps to project this the way God intended.
