The Bible should be the foundation of our teachings. We should start with the Bible when we are planning the lesson, integrate it into our lesson when we are teaching and end it with the Biblical perspectives as well, regardless of the subjects we are teaching.
-
Everything we teach should be influenced by God’s word. Is what we are teaching fitting into the principles of the Bible?

Dr. Black’s visual was set to remind us that everything we teach from our curriculum should begin and end with God’s Word. We need to be sure that we are integrating Scripture and Biblical principles into any curriculum we teach.

I encourage myself and my students to have a growth mindset by knowing that making mistakes are ok. That is how we learn. If we were correct all of the time, there would be nothing to strive for and we wouldn’t continue to improve on what we already know. I also remind myself that having a fixed mindset with not get me anywhere but miserable.

I agree that “We can’t have the mind of Christ without really studying Scripture, without being reflective.” Also, studying new concepts in science and educating middle-schooler is vital to becoming a better teacher. I must stay humble and receive advice from others on how to improve myself.

To encourage a growth mindset, first, everything must be evaluated. Sometimes a neutral party can help to evaluate in order to identify if anything has become mundane. Also, one should seek out innovators in their fields to help them continue to think forward. Finally, one has to be willing to let go of practices that no longer serve the best interests of all involved.

Some techiniques I have used to encourage a growith mindset is to take notes and then review them. For example, I take notes durign a sermon at church and then go back to that passage later in the week to re-process what I have learned from that passage of scripture and application that was mentioned in the sermon. I enjoy professional development courses and do the same when I take a course. I allow the information I recieve to change my thinking, process and goals.

I love to be able to learn new things and take them into my classroom
