Christian Learning Center Forums Explain, in your own words, Dr. Black’s visual of a book in the middle of two Bibles. What is she illustrating with this visual?

I think of the words alpha and omega when I see the visual that Dr. Black provided. We must remember to begin with God’s Word and end with God’s Word. All that we do, all of our materials, and curriculum must fit within the framework of the Bible. We should be asking, “Does all that I have planned to teach line up and fit within the boundaries of biblical truth?”

Dr. Black is showing us that as Christian educators we must realize that we begin and end education with the Bible. So it needs to be part of our lessons always.

Dr. Black’s visual of a book in the middle of two Bibles provides an image in our minds to help us see how everything that is taught should be surrounded by God’s word.

I liked the way Dr. Black used the visual of the Bible on the top and bottom of the books. I think what she was illustrating was that we as teachers need to weave our curriculum with the Word of God.

My visual of this illustration is that the Bible is the start and the end of the teachings. It is the foundation of how I should begin my lessons and end them. If I use the Bible as my foundation, my lessons will become a success.

I read books and listen to audiobooks often, focusing on areas that I need personal growth. I spend time evaluating how well my procedures and practices are working, and what can make them more effective.

I enjoy meditating. Meditating on God’s word, on prayer, or even just stretching and meditating on God’s presence. I use this time to look forward towards goals I have.

Starting by stop wasting my time doing unnecessary things and focus on the bigger picture of what I needed to do instead of just working on the most pressing task at hand. Challenge myself to new things and jotting down things to achieve on my calendar i.e. finish reading the Bible in a year, joining a small Bible group on a regular basis, etc. Also, working collaboratively with a friend so we can both grow together and encourage one another when we are feeling unmotivated.

Prayer is number one. Praying, asking God for wisdom, direction and opportunity. There are so many online options for growth. Even during the busiest of times, having a sermon on is always encouraging. Uplifting music calls me to have a Godly mindset and a desire to be closer to Him.

Teachers Pay Teachers is a great resource for growth mindset activities. We use several of their interactive notebooks.
