Dr. Black’s metaphor of a book placed between two Bibles illustrates that all educational content should be viewed through the lens of Scripture. The Bibles represent God’s Word as the foundation, while the book symbolizes secular materials, which must align with biblical principles. This visual emphasizes that Christian educators should integrate faith into every aspect of teaching, ensuring that a biblical worldview shapes their approach to education.

This emphasizes that all subjects and methods should be rooted in biblical principles, ensuring education is both academically sound and spiritually enriching. It highlights the integration of faith in education, focusing on not just knowledge, but also nurturing students’ spiritual growth and understanding of their eternal purpose.

I am constantly looking for ways to improve. To grow in both the knowledge and grace of God. I take courses, attend workshops that my school provides and try and stay engaged as a lifelong learner.

There is always more to learn. Instead of thinking, “I don’t know how to do that”, I add a “Yet”, to it. “I don’t know how to do that yet”, is more of an open ended response implying that I have room to learn. I encourage students to do this as well. Teachers are learners, as well.

I often keep an open mind to learning new things. In taking these courses, I am realizing that the effort I demand of myself will solidify my path to mastering the ideas shared.

The reminder of just because I made a mistake, or messed up this time doesn’t mean that will happen every time. The reminder to keep trying and not give up. Also, the reminder that God has a plan and a purpose for me, and if I’m still here, then He’s not done with me yet.

I couldn’t be happier to have discovered the promotion of Carol Dweck’s book being used in this course. I discovered Mindset many years ago and immediately recognized I had become stuck in a fixed mindset. Seeing how much this faulty thinking limited me, I ran forward trying to tell everyone I could about this little book that would change your life. Presently, the primary techniques I use to encourage the growth mindset, is to keep Dweck’s principles on prominent display, both at home and in the classroom for encouragement and resiliency practice.
