Studying different religions allows somebody to understand the world from a different perspective. It helps us to have empathy as well as allows us to engage in productive discourse with others about important topics that guide our understanding about who we are and where we come from. As we learn about other religions, we may even find truths that we were unaware of.

Since we live in a multi-cultural society that is very diverse, it would behoove us to become knowledgeable about other religious faiths. It is also important to have a firm understanding of our own chosen religious belief system. This will help us to better relate to one another as well as have a healthy appreciation of our similarities and differences. It will enable us to learn how to share our own faith while respecting and the other person’s perspective and views. Essentially it helps to make us a better witness.
