Before this lesson I would have described that a good leader supports those they lead to or through a process to an intended outcome. A good leader leads are those who lead others to a better place.
-
I might have described a good leader as someone who has followers and they help bring them to another place of understanding or accomplishment. Leading is more than a title, but an action verb. When we lead well, people will have changed and will be ready to be led again by us… to a better place of understanding and accomplishment.

Before, I would have defined it as servant leadership. That would have included modeling how to lead, assisting others how to lead, watching them lead, and then launching them into leadership. Now, I still have a similar definition, but the context of the situation much be much more heavily emphasized. Also, not only that the people being lead know what to do, but are better people because of the leadership they experienced.

Before: Leaders manage teams to achieve goals.
Now: Leaders lead us to new places/levels.

Management in theory makes the team work faster, better more efficiently. Leadership provides the help to get people to where they want to go
-
Leadership takes us to a destination. Management helps us while we are there.
-
Leadership takes us someplace and management helps us do what we’re supposed to do while we are in that place.
-
Managing is doing the job and leadership is getting others involved in the mission and vision what the job is all about.
