A good leader, as I have learned in the past, is someone who leads by example and modeling. Is someone who does and serves those he leads and influences. I guess that is the same as “leaders do” from the lecture if the definitions of “do” apply to what I have learned a good leader does.
-
A good leader is one who cares for those he leads. He will direct them but his direction should be led by how he cares for them. Not much has changed from the lecture. It more affirms what I am thinking.

I would have described a leader as someone who takes people to places they wouldn’t go otherwise by inspiration, example, and serving them. I would define it pretty much the same, but agreeing that the definition of a leader is pretty nebulous.
-
Before the lesson, I would say that leaders are people that have been put in position to lead others. After the lesson, I know that a good leader leads by example and is a servant to other to help them work together for the betterment of the team

I’ve loved studying and learning about leadership for a number of years now, so I was pretty aligned with what was taught on leadership today. That being said, I loved the idea that an effective leader is someone who leads people and when they get to where they were going, they desire to be led again.

Management is making sure tasks are done, leadership is taking people to overcome challenges and obstacles by inspiring them with vision.
-
Management is overseeing the current, physical environment while leadership is cultivating and stewarding the vision for the future in order to help a company or group grow and move forward in a steady, effective manner to capture the overall picture.
-
Leadership is marked by vision for the future and willingness to guide people towards that future. It’s a heads up mentality.
Management is marked by making sure that tasks at hand get done efficiently, effectively, and safely. But there’s no vision for what’s next, just a heads down mentality.

You lead people by helping them get to a place where they currently are not. We manage things and situations.
-
Leadership takes you someplace, and management helps us do what we are supposed to do when we get there. Many organizations are over managed and under led. The environments are changing, but no one thinking as a leader to change where they are going.
