Before this lesson I would have said that a good leader was a good motivator and a visionary. Now, I would say that a good leader is a servant leader who leads by example first.

It would be the same, a good leader leads and now after watching the video; a good leader leads, taking us from one place to something better.
-
I would say that I my old definition of a leader would be the “one put in charge” or the one with the biggest title/responsibility.
My new understanding is that everybody is a leader and should take responsibility and leaders lead to somewhere that you have not been and followers are willing to keep following.

I appreciated his perspective. my views on leadership have been more affirmed than changed

Before the lesson I described a good leader as someone who is, as my mentor has said, not interested in the title but the towel. Meaning a good leader serves the people being lead; by meeting their needs, being intentional with any time spent together, caring for their well beings and not just the work they do, and above all, leading by example. Now I would describe a leader the same way but I would add the fact that leading looks different in different circumstances and it is necessary to have a vision for where you want to go and how to get there while also being able to adapt to any adversity that challenges may bring.

Management prescribes to others what the should do to reach an intended outcome. Leadership are actions which engage others to ask questions which help them explore, determine and learn which courses of actions lead to them to a better place.
-
Leaders help take people to where they :in’t … working alongside them to assist and encourage to new place of success and understanding. Managers typically just tell people what is expected of them and then leave to the task.
-
Leadership leads people to somewhere new that they wouldn’t know how to get to otherwise. Managing would be maintaining and upholding the status quo where you are.
-
Leadership: Helps teams advance.
Management: Manages team’s performance.
-
Management can be described as the use of human resources to achieve goals, whereas leadership is truly having the leader(s) and the followers forming a common bond and improving or elevating in some specific way.
