Understanding the historical was helpful- the approximate 400 years between the Bible Testaments carried with it changes in political/power landscape of the region. This is the culture where Christ started His ministry. It was interesting to learn the backdrop of where the Jewish people were culturally and religiously. This historical information gives richness to the reading of the New Testament.

I think the type of question that stood out to me the most historical background. I think that I Have previously not given enough thought the the history of the times, and culture in which biblical passages were being written. More recently through study and with guidance from pastors I feel like my understanding of the New Testament has been greatly improved by digging more into the historical background of what these passages were saying about the times. I have found that making sure you understand the laws, culture, and expectations of the times I have gained more insight into God’s purpose with his words.

Contemporary application stood out to me the most because I find it incredibly interesting how the Bible can be interpreted in so many ways. I enjoy listening to how people interpret scripture as well as interpreting it on my own. Though, I find that I can struggle with expressing my interpretation, in different situations, because I’m not sure if my interpretation is right. I think this type of question helps me to grasp how God uses his word to touch lives of individuals. We all take different things from His word and it was done purposefully.

I am increasing interested in historical question. I love how NT has so many personal applications, but I am gain so much insight when I learn about the historical context of each book. Just finishing the overview of Revelations, I realized how wrong I have interpreted that book due to my lack of historical context.

Historical stands out to me the most. I have definately spent my time in the Word and theology and application. However, I would like to better understand the time period and context, and be able to use history to explain the Truth of the Bible.
