Our Gospel overviews always give us a bird’s eye view of the book, with a special interest in the unique features of this Gospel writer. Matthew will give us a lot to chew on. It’s a big Gospel, with 28 chapters, and it has some big chunks of teaching mixed in. 

This overview will give us a chance to see Matthew weaving together the narrative of Jesus in light of the narrative of Israel. And he will show us many hyperlinks to the Old Testament on every theme. Before we’re done, you’ll learn some fascinating things about Jewish interpretation. So, let’s head back out on the trail with St. Matthew.
