This is significant because through these stories and peoples lives we learn how to live a righteous life. He teaches us how to develop positive good behaviour. God’s message is of love and grace.

This is evidence of God’s mercy and grace. It shows clearly that God desires fellowship with His creation and wants us to be reconciled to Him. The Old Testament provides the foundation for the New Testament. They seamlessly fit together as two parts of a whole. While sacrifice and laws were provided for atonement in the OT, Christ became the fulfillment as a perfect sacrifice in the NT. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8)”. Every prophecy given in the OT was fulfilled in the NT. Throughout the entire Bible, God never changed. He loved us then even though we were rebellious and He loves us now as a rebellious people just the same.

This is significant because we can identify ourselves with those in rebellion. But we know that God loves us and He has a redemptive plan to save us.

It is not only important to know that we have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. The Old Testament also instructs us on ways to get on the right track to restore our relationship with God.

This is significant for God to save his people from the penalty of sin which is eternal death .
