It shows us God’s mercy and justice, love and discipline. God is always reaching out to us to come back to Him. It encourages me not to be like those hard-hearted or “simpletons” who wandered astray, but rather to stay on the path, following God.

It tells us who God is. His existence and attributes. Its story continues even in our present time, as we are all hell-bound until He has reached us out in love through Jesus Christ.

The Old Testament reveals the nature of God. It shows that He is good, faithful, loving, and patient enough to reach down in love for a human race that is rebellious. This is significant because it proves that we were created to be His, and He has and continues to extend grace and mercy to us in hopes that we will turn to Him.

This is significant because it show’s God’s patience and forgiveness.
