Christian Learning Center Forums One of the themes we see in 1 and 2 Chronicles is that of worship. What is the importance of worship? How do you worship God?

Humans were created to worship God. If we do not worship God, we do not fulfill our purpose for existing on this earth. There is a hunger for worship inside each one of us. If we do not worship the true God, we will worship a false god. Everyone worships, whether we admit it or not.

God desires our worship. Our worship blesses God. It is hard for me to comprehend that there is anything I can do that would bless the God of all creation, but worship does bless Him.

Worship is the common theme in our spiritual heritage. The patriarchs worshiped. David worshiped. The kings who followed God worshiped Him. The first family of Genesis worshiped. The believers described in Revelation who are gathered up by Jesus, will worship their risen Lord and Savior.

My worship is made up of both personal and corporate worship. Corporate worship happens when I meet with other Christians either in my local church or other Christ-focused gatherings.

Personal worship is both time specific and continuing. I have a daily time when I study God’s word and pray. It is hard to study the Bible and not have reason to worship as I learn more about God and interact with Him through His word.

My ongoing personal worship may be the appreciation of the beauty of nature. It may be the expression of appreciation of blessings both small and great that come my way during the day. It may be an expression of amazement at something my wonderful God has done.

Worship that is pleasing to God and that fills the void I was created with, is worship that comes from my spirit. It comes from that eternal part of me that is the dwelling place of God. My physical body experiences blessings from God and my mental capacities process a response to those blessings, but it is my spirit and my spirit alone that communes with Him.

“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.” John 4:24.

The importance of worship is it changes our hearts. As we turn our eyes, our hearts, to Him we see He is greater than ourselves. I worship by studying scripture, singing songs about His glory and faithfulness, and by being in silence and solitude with Him. I find I have to stop my mind in order to truly worship the Lord. stop to where I feel my heart, and feel His presence.

Worship Is Important because it gives God’s people an opportunity , to get to know him in His Glory, on a personal level. I worship God by entering into His Temple and assembling amongst other Christians, for the Word say our inheritance is amongst those that are sat apart for the Master’s use(GOD), so in the House of God so to speak ,that’s is why He allowed Solomon to build the Temple so that it would represent a seating ,dwelling place for the Spirit of GOD so that the priest could enter in and seek the Lord for His people.

Worship is so important because it shows the stance of your heart and where your trust and hope rely in. The Chronicles shows the various levels of Judah’s kings and their leadership of worship with the Israelites. Some were good kings and built the Temple, enforced the Temple tax, and got rid of high places, while others did the exact opposite. We can worship God in many ways, whether with music and congregational service, or how we treat and show the love of God/Christ to others in our day to day lives. We live in a daily place of calling, no matter where we are, and we are to worship God in whatever situation we are in.
